Lip Blush Healing Process
The healing process for semi-permanent lip blush occurs in several stages over the course of a few weeks. In addition to following the lip blush aftercare instructions, understanding the healing process is essential to avoid unneeded stress and worry while going though the different stages of healing.
Lip Blush Healing Timeline
Day 1
Right after the procedure, lips generally appear very bright and slightly swollen
Lip color is more intense than the final result
Some tingling, tightness, or minor discomfort may be present
Ice the lips often to reduce swelling
No Kissing, Rubbing or Picking
Apply Ointment as needed throughout the day. Keep them moist at all times
Day 2-3
Intensified color and swelling may continue, and the color of the lips often appears darker and more intense
Lips may start feeling a bit dry and tight, as the healing process begins
Day 4 - 5
Pealing begins. The outer layer of skin may begin to flake or peel
It's important not to pick or scratch the lips as this can affect the healing and color outcome!
The color under the peeling skin may seem very light compared to the flaking skin. (Color will soften in about 2 weeks)
Day 6 - 7
Peeling Continues. Peeling typically continues and the color may still appear lighter than expected under the peeling areas
The lips start to feel more comfortable and less tight
Day 8 - 10
True Color Emerges. By this stage, peeling usually finishes, revealing a softer and more natural color
Swelling has subsided and the lips begin to look and feel more natural
Day 11 - 14
Healing Completes. The lips should be mostly healed with the true color and intensity visible. (Color might still be a little light)
The lips regain their normal texture, with the final results of the lip blush now evident
Day 15 - 30
Full Healing and Color Settling. Over the next few weeks, the color will settle and fully integrate with the natural lip color.
A follow-up appointment may be scheduled to touch up and adjust the color or shape if necessary
To achieve the best results, aftercare is paramount. We will provide detailed aftercare instructions, including keeping the lips moisturized and avoiding direct sunlight. The initial healing process typically takes around a week, during which the lips may feel slightly dry and flaky.
